Mersing is the name of a city and a district in the northeast corner of the state of Johor, Malaysia. Mersing city ( guessed population in 2009 : 21,670 ) is an energetic tourist city visited by Malaysians and foreign visitors. Mersing city is especially heavy for several reasons : it is one of just two major cities situated in the eastern 1/2 Johor state ( the other being Kota Tinggi ), it lies on the primary trunk road that connects southern as well as eastern Johor with the eastern coast of Pahang state including Pahang’s capital Kuantan ( part of Fed. Route three ), and it’s the primary exit point for ferries to the close by offshore islands like Pulau Tioman.It’s heaven for cool backpacks.
